'Asteroids' will launch talks

"Asteroids and Comet Impacts" is the topic of tomorrow's free presentation in the University of Hawai'i Institute for Astronomy's new Maui Maikalani Community Lecture series.
The event will run 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Maikalani Advanced Technology Research Center at 34 'Ohi'a Ku St. in the Kulamalu Town Center.
Joe Ritter, will discuss collisions between near-Earth objects, current research efforts, and past and future effects on the evolution of life on this planet.
His current research areas include active optical systems, nanotechnology, biology and oncology.
