Wilkes' goal stops BYUH

A goal by Mikala Wilkes in the 70th minute helped Dixie State College topple leader Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 1-0, in a Pacific West Conference women's soccer game yesterday at La'ie.
Becky Ploeger made five saves for the Seasiders (11-6-1 overall, 8-2 PacWest), which fell into a second-place tie with Hawai'i-Hilo. Suzanne Hunt had two saves for Dixie State (14-3-1, 8-1-1), which moved into first place.
UH-HILO SPLITS PAIR
Kyle Cabison scored the go-ahead goal off an assist by Dustin Daley in the 25th minute to spark Hawai'i-Hilo past Notre Dame de Namur, 2-1, in a PacWest men's soccer game yesterday at Kea'au.
Andres Caballero scored in the second minute for Notre Dame de Namur (8-10-1, 5-4-1). Less than a minute later, Luis Lanz equalized for UH-Hilo (8-9-1, 4-4).
In women's action, Erin Morrison scored in the 63rd minute as Notre Dame de Namur upset UH-Hilo, 1-0. Rebecca Delaney made two saves for the Vulcans (11-8 overall, 8-2 PacWest). Allie Howarth had seven saves for the Argonauts (6-11-1, 5-5).
CHAMINADE SWEPT
Joel Ibarra and Tony Judice scored one goal apiece as Grand Canyon defeated Chaminade, 2-0, in a PacWest men's soccer game yesterday at Saint Louis field.
Darren Smith had eight saves for Chaminade (2-14-1, 0-8-1). Judice, Albert Escovar and Julien Roberts each had one assist for the Antelopes (10-4-4, 7-0-1).
In women's action, Vannessa Young scored twice as the Antelopes beat the Silverswords, 2-1. Marisa Faye's goal tied the game late in the first half for Chaminade (0-15, 0-10). Young scored the go-ahead goal with five minutes remaining for Grand Canyon (4-12-2, 4-5-1).
GOLF
UHH'S GOULDING 4TH
Hawai'i-Hilo's Logan Goulding shot an even-par 72 and is within three strokes of the lead after the second round of the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate yesterday at the Mauna Lani Golf Course on the Big Island.
Kyle Hopkins of Sonoma State leads after shooting 66—138. Goulding is fourth with a 36-hole 141 total. Sonoma State leads the 16-team tournament at 12-under 564.
