Big Island county officials are planning to extend the Hilo sewer system to connect with Komohana Heights subdivision and adjacent properties, and they are planning a public meeting to discuss the pro-ject.

The meeting will be at Aupuni Center at 101 Pauahi St. on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.

The project was prompted by a federal mandate requiring that the county close two large-capacity cesspools that serve the subdivision.
