U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono will visit the North Shore today to meet with students and community leaders.

She will meet with North Shore Neighborhood Board members and representatives of the Army Corps of Engineers to discuss issues concerning the Waialua-Kaiaka Watershed at 10 a.m. at Haleiwa Hongwanji.

Flood control is a concern and so is possible runoff after the weeklong Waialua fire that burned 7,000 acres of land.

Hirono will also visit Waialua High & Intermediate School at 11:30 a.m. to recognize the school's athletic program for its gender equity award.
