Services set for Army sergeant killed in Iraq

Memorial services for Army Sgt. Alexander Gagalac, who was killed in Iraq, are set for Wednesday and Thursday.
The 1997 Leilehua High School graduate died Sept. 9 after an improvised explosive device exploded near the Humvee he was riding in in Hawija, about 30 miles southwest of Kirkuk.
Gagalac, 28, was with the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry "Wolfhounds" out of Schofield Barracks, and was expected to return home next week after a more than yearlong deployment to northern Iraq.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary's mauka chapel in Waipi'o, off Ka Uka Boulevard.
The following day, visitation will begin at 9 a.m., followed by Mass from 11 a.m. to noon at the St. John Apostle and Evangelist Church in Mililani.
After the Mass, a full military honors ceremony and burial will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. The services are open to the public.
