MADD, state take aim at underage drinking

MADD Hawaii will air public service announcements this month on seven radio stations to deter underage drinking.
The PSAs are part of several activities planned in April for Alcohol Awareness Month.
The radio spots will publicize the state's "use and lose" law, which went into effect in January 2007 and mandates that anyone under 21 caught drinking, possessing or purchasing alcohol can have their driver's license suspended for 180 days.
The campaign was announced this morning in a news conference with Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona, who called underage drinking one of the greatest social health problems facing youth in the Islands.
