Former Hawai'i resident Dean Wilson, who was forced to complete his second round early today, shot a third-round 2-under 70 today at the Shell Houston Open in Humble, Texas.
Another former Hawai'i resident, Parker McLachlin, also had to finish his second round today. He ended with a 2-over 74 and his bogey on the last hole caused him to miss the cut by one stroke.
Wilson, a former Kane'ohe resident and Castle High alum, was 3-over through 17 holes when rain halted play Friday. He completed his second round at 3-over 75, but made the cut on the strength of Thursday's 5-under 67.
Today, Wilson had two birdies and no bogeys on the Redstone Golf Club tournament course.
The $5.6 million event, with a first-place purse of $1,008,000, is scheduled to end tomorrow.
Wilson started the day tied for 36th. He is now among the top 27, about 10 shots back of the leaders.
McLachlin, who shot a 1-under 71 Thursday, was 1-over for the round and even overall when play was halted around the 13th hole. But the Punahou School alum bogeyed the par-4 18th, dropping his two-round score to 145. The cut was 144 and better.
