KAUA'I GARDEN DOCENTS — The National Tropical Botanical Garden will provide free docent training for its south-shore site, 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays from April 30 through June 18. Docents lead garden tours and receive training in botany, propagation, conservation, nursery management, customer service. Annual commitment of 72 volunteer hours required. GINGERBUSTERS — Help restore rain forest at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park by removing non-native kahili ginger alongside Crater Rim Trail, 9-10:30 a.m. April 12 and 26. Meet at Kilauea Visitor Center.
WAHIAWA RECYCLING — The 39th Aloha 'Aina Recycling Community Cleanup Project will accept bulky items for disposal and recyclables from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12 at Leilehua High School. Accepting HI-5¢ containers, eyeglasses, hearing aids, printer cartridges, usable lumber, clothing, scrap metal, auto parts, cooking oil, lawn mowers, newspapers, cardboard, fishing nets and more. MOKAUEA ISLAND PROJECT — Volunteers needed April 19 to help Kai Makana and Mokauea Fishing Village Association create educational center. KALIHI NATURE PARK — Volunteers needed from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 19 to help land-based health program for Kokua Kalihi Valley; work includes weeding, gardening, removing invasive species and replanting native forest. Meet at 3659 Kalihi St.

MARSH RESTORATION — The Hawai'i Nature Center is restoring Pouhala Marsh in Pearl Harbor. Volunteers needed to pull pickleweed and mangrove from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 12.
