Lingle aide to brief U.S. Senate on airline issue

HONOLULU – Gov. Linda Lingle has announced that her chief of staff and former director of the state Department of Transportation, Barry Fukunaga, will attend a U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation hearing on Hawai'i's air service market at 2:30 p.m. (EDT) tomorrow in Washington, D.C.
Fukunaga, who has been closely involved in the Lingle-Aiona administration's efforts to address the recent closure of Aloha Airlines and ATA Airlines, will provide a full picture of the transportation situation in Hawai'i, with a focus on airport services and infrastructure for the future, according to a news release from the governor's office.
Fukunaga served for 25 years with the state DOT Airports Division, including airports manager, airports operations manager and airports services supervisor. He is a member of the American Association of Airport Executives and has served as a director of the Airport Council International – Pacific.
