Flash flood watch issued for all isles
Advertiser Staff
The National Weather Service yesterday issued a flash flood watch for all islands through tonight.
A weather system west of Kaua'i was making the atmosphere moist and unstable, leading to a chance of widespread heavy rain, the weather service said.
The Big Island had the heaviest rainfall yesterday. For the 24-hour period ending at 8 p.m., Pahoa received 3.98 inches of rain, the Pali 2 rain gauge had 3.62 inches and the Pahala 3.14 inches.
On O'ahu, the wettest spots were Waipi'o and Kunia, which each received about a half-inch of rain.
A flash flood watch means conditions exist that may lead to flash flooding. If the threat becomes imminent, the weather service may issue a flash flood warning.
