The attorney for a former Bishop Estate trustee facing charges stemming from a Lanikai egg-throwing incident last month must submit any information he plans to release to the media to the court first, a judge ruled yesterday.

Paul Cunney, the attorney for Gerard Jervis, is under fire from the city prosecutor's office for trying to release the results of an independent polygraph on his client to the media. He was ordered not to release it this week.

The city prosecutor's office filed a motion to stop Cunney from releasing similar information about the case in the future, saying Cunney is not allowed to talk about the facts of the case under professional rules of conduct.

Circuit Court Judge Randal Lee told Cunney to submit to him first for approval any "substantive information" meant for media or public release.

Jervis pleaded not guilty Monday to first-degree criminal property damage and other charges stemming from the March 7 egg-throwing incident. Jervis, 59, is accused of chasing a group of teens in his car after they allegedly threw eggs at his Lanikai home. The chase ended when the sport utility vehicle the four teenagers were in crashed into a utility pole guy wire.

Jervis' trial is set to start June 9. He is free on $40,000 bail.
