Big Isle tour plane makes safe emergency landing

A single-engine tour airplane made a safe emergency landing yesterday morning near Kalapana on the Big Island.
The Island Hoppers plane with seven aboard, including six passengers, landed safely on Highway 130 after the pilot reported engine failure, the Hawai'i County Fire Department said.
The plane was not damaged and no one was hurt, the fire department said.
The fire department received the alarm at 11:22 a.m.
The plane was at the end of Highway 130 before the Kalapana lava flow viewing site.
