WAI'ANAE
Join beach cleanup at Ma'ili Point on April 26
State Rep. Maile Shimabukuro and her family will host a beach cleanup from 8 to 11 a.m. April 26.
The event, part of Nani O Wai'anae's Keep Hawaii Beautiful Day, will start at Ma'ili Point across from the Union 76 gas station on Farrington Highway at Ho'okele Street and will end at Hakimo Road.
Shimabukuro, D-45th (Wai'anae, Makaha, Makua), said the cleanup is part of a plan for a People's Path or multi-use path on the beach that will connect to the state's planned bicycle path. The hope is that someday the path will extend along the entire Wai'anae Coast.
Volunteers are asked to bring sun protection and water. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.
