Olympics: Kenyan marathoner Tergat to skip Beijing

NAIROBI, Kenya — Former marathon world-record holder Paul Tergat of Kenya won't run at the Beijing Olympics because he has not trained enough.
The 38-year-old Tergat recently completed four months of military training in Kenya, which was rocked by violence following a disputed presidential election in December.
Haile Gebrselassie set the world record of 2 hours, 4 minutes, 26 seconds in Berlin last year, bettering the 2:04:55 Tergat ran in 2003, also in Berlin.
