Autopsies will be performed tomorrow on two bodies found on the Big Island to determine cause and manner of death.

A badly decomposed body, possibly of an elderly man, was found today in the lower Puna subdivision of Kalapana Seaview Estates. The body was near a rustic cabin surrounded by waist-high vegetation.

The case has been classified as a coroner's inquest.

Hawai'i County police, meanwhile, have identified a body found in Hilo yesterday as 76-year-old Philip L. Monette of Pahoa.

Beachgoers found Monette's body floating in the water at Reed's Bay and brought it to shore before calling 911.

Police have not ruled out foul play in the Monette case.
