4,000 paddlers converge for the annual dragon boat races
Two hundred teams, 4,000 paddlers, and thousands of spectators will converge on Hong Kong's Stanley Beach for The Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Championships this summer. Part spectacle but mostly intense competition, dragon boat races began in 1976 and are now an annual event. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 8, you can watch the main races on Shing Mun River, at Sha Tin in the New Territories. The celebration draws huge crowds of locals, expats and visitors to cheer on their favorite teams. www.hkdba.com.
