Superferry said it will do what it can to help interisland deliveries

Advertiser Staff

Hawaii Superferry, which carries cargo on its trips between O'ahu and Maui, said it will do all it can to help companies maintain their interisland deliveries.

"Like many others in the community, Hawaii Superferry will do what it can to step up to help ensure that interisland commerce continues with as little disruption as possible for Hawai'i's businesses and residents," said Lori Abe, senior vice president at McNeil Wilson Communications, speaking on behalf of Hawaii Superferry.

Hawaiian Airlines currently carries 8 percent to 10 percent of interisland air cargo compared with 85 percent for Aloha Cargo.

Keoni Wagner, vice president for public affairs at Hawaiian Airlines, said, "Not knowing the circumstances yet, we feel it's premature to comment."

A telephone call seeking comment has not yet been returned by Young Brothers, which ships more interisland goods than any other company.
