Lucas Gonsalves hit a three-run triple in the fourth inning to rally Saint Louis past Kamehameha, 6-4, today in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu baseball tournament game at Ala Wai that helped determine the fate of three teams.
Gonsalves' hit came with Saint Louis behind 3-2 and gave the Crusaders a 5-3 lead.
Saint Louis' victory eliminated Kamehameha from the double-elimination tournament, ended the Warriors' hopes for a state tournament berth, and allowed Punahou and Mid-Pacific to gain state tournament berths.
Saint Louis, which has already clinched a state berth by winning the ILH regular-season title, will play Punahou for the ILH Tournament title, 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Ala Wai.
Punahou, unbeaten in the tournament, can win the ILH Tournament title with a win on Thursday. It it loses, the teams play again Friday.
The winner of the ILH Tournament is granted an automatic state tournament berth.
However, since Punahou finished third in the regular season and can finish no lower than second in the ILH Tournament, the Buffanblu qualifies for the tournament.
Mid-Pacific, which was ousted in the ILH Tournament, finished second in the regular season, ahead of Punahou, and gains a state berth.
The ILH is given three state baseball berths this season.
