New chair for book, music fest
Frank A. Haas is the new chairman of the Hawaii Book & Music Festival, replacing founding chairman Blair Collis.
Haas, of Kailua, is director for strategic development and acting assistant dean of the University of Hawai'i School of Travel Industry Management and a former vice president of the Hawai'i Tourism Authority. Collis is vice president of public programs for Bishop Museum.
The 2009 festival is set for May 16 and 17. Its Web site, www.hawaiibookandmusicfestival.org, features photos and reports on the 2008 event, which drew 30,000 attendees, and will include updates on the 2009 festival.
