Free storage offered for Oahu residents in need

Advertiser Staff

A new Transition Assistance Program at Hawaii Self Storage is providing a minimum of four months free storage to individuals who are experiencing financial hardship, the storage company announced today through its public relations office.

"TAP" is part of the Self Storage's community pride outreach initiatives and is open to anyone who is experiencing financial difficulties related to their residence. To take part, you must submit a letter and proof of residential financial hardship to Hawaii Self Storage.

All requests will be reviewed by a board and approved on a first come, first serve basis for locations in Kaimuki, Pearl City and Salt Lake. The company is opening two more facilities soon in Kapolei (September) and Mililani (October).

Daniel Ho, president of Hawaii Self Storage, said the free storage is being offered because of recent struggles such as the subprime crisis, the closure of Aloha Airlines, Molokai Ranch and the recent announcements that Maui Land and Pineapple, among others, will be closing.

"We want to help people in this time of need," Ho said in a released statement. "For some, four months of storage will be a huge burden off their back. while they readjust their living situation."
