Police clear park bridge of homeless, furniture
Police and the city yesterday removed people who were living under a bridge at Kailua Beach Park.
City parks workers and city facility maintenance staff assisted police with removal of furniture, trash and other items from under the Kawailoa Bridge that spans Kaelepulu Stream, city spokesman Bill Brennan said in an e-mail.
The police and city workers were addressing complaints from the community, said police spokeswoman Michelle Yu, adding that officers have helped with removing homeless before from such areas. No arrests were made, Yu said. The number of people removed was not available.
