Lions' makahiki raises $2,270 for Summer Fun
The Kaneohe Lions Club presented a $2,270 check to Kane'ohe District Park last night to split among its satellite parks for the Summer Fun program.
The money was raised during the 33rd Annual Makahiki held at the district park July 12, said Harold Aloiau, makahiki co-chairman.
The Lions sponsored the event and sold hot dogs, shave ice, popcorn and cookies, Aloiau said. All of the gross goes to the park and the Lions absorbed all expenses, he said.
The money is used to purchase T-shirts for Summer Fun volunteers and equipment for the program, Aloiau said. The check was presented at the Lions' bimonthly meeting at the Pohai Nani retirement home.
