A woman accused in a 1991 theft case who voluntarily returned to Honolulu from Texas pleaded not guilty today and will be tried Oct. 6.
Pamela Richardson was indicted in March 1994 for allegedly stealing more than $35,000 three years earlier while working as branch manager of Associates Financial Service Co. of Hawaii in Wahiawa. Richardson allegedly approved numerous loans to fictitious or deceased people and deposited money into her own account, prosecutors said.
It was incorrectly reported Tuesday that Richardson was extradited based on information from the prosecutor's office.
According to Honolulu police, Richards was arrested on April 11 by police in Kennedale, a city in Tarrant County, Texas, and bailed out on April 28, posting a $2,500 bond. Honolulu police filed an extradition request to Texas Gov. Rick Perry's office on June 2, which was later signed by the governor, but Richardson apparently returned to Honolulu before the warrant was served.
Richardson surrendered Monday at 11:55 a.m., police said. She was booked for first-degree theft and later released after posting $5,000 bail.
