Waiakea alum Whiting tied for third at Futures Tour event

Waiakea High alum Leah Whiting shot a 3-under-par 69 to trail leaders Lisa Ferrero and Vicky Hurst by a shot after today's first round of the Duramed Futures Fall Auto Group Classic.
The three-round event on the LPGA's developmental tour is being played at Crooked Creek Golf Community in London, Ky.
Whiting, of Hilo, is tied for third with four other golfers. She is in her first season on the Futures Tour. Her best finish is a tie for 14th at the Alliance Bank Golf Classic.
Shayna Miyajima of Maui shot a 75 and was tied for 53rd. Kailua's Bridget Dwyer was tied for 84th after 77.
