U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, asked by reporters about former Democratic presidential rival John Edwards' admission to a 2006 extramarital affair, today said it was a "personal matter" that Edwards would have to deal with.
He also told reporters upon arrival at Honolulu International Airport that he planned no work other than on his Democratic Convention speech and brushed aside questions about his vice presidential pick.
His first comment off the campaign plane: "It's windy out here. Surf up?
A few thousand people greeted him at a beach park near the airport. It was to be Obama's only public event in a weeklong island visit. He's also got a ritzy fundraiser Tuesday.
