Looks like "Hawaii Five-O" is heading back to TV, along with some of its well-known features, such as Steve McGarrett's line, "Book 'em Danno!"
Honolulu film commissioner Walea Constantinau confirmed that the project has been floated, and said it is "in early development."
"It's a valid franchise," she said, "a credit to the original."
As with the original series, plans call for filming in Hawai'i.
"The Hollywood Reporter and E! Online have reported that "Five-O," which was one of CBS' most popular detective series, is shooting for a relaunch in the 2009-10 season.
In the past decade, other efforts to reboot the "Five-O" franchise — as a TV series or feature film — have failed.
The original "Five-O," starring Jack Lord, ran from 1968 to 1980.
The updated show is the brainchild of Ed Bernero, the writer and executive producer of CBS series' "Criminal Minds."
The buzz is that elements of the original show will be retained, including the popular theme song.
