WASHINGTON — Rep. Neil Abercrombie will speak on Tuesday to Minnesota's delegation to the Democratic National Convention about Sen. Barack Obama's campaign for the White House.
The convention begins Monday in Denver. Democratic Rep. James L. Oberstar, a senior Minnesota lawmaker and chairman of the House Transportation Committee, asked Abercrombie to talk to the 109-member delegation about Obama and his push for the White House, said Randy Obata, a spokesman for Abercrombie, who represents Hawai'i's First Congressional District.
Abercrombie, one of Obama's longtime friends, was a student at the University of Hawai'i and knew Obama's mother and father when they met. He has campaigned for Obama in at least eight states.
