Hawaii feeling Olympic medal rush

Twelve athletes with Hawai'i ties will go home with medals at the Beijing Olympic Games.
Along with the silver won by the four Hawai'i players on the U.S. women's volleyball team, Castle alum Bryan Clay won the gold for the United States in the decathlon, and Natasha Kai, a Kahuku and University of Hawai'i alum, was a member of the gold-medal winning U.S. women's soccer team. Clay Stanley, a Kaiser High and UH alum, won gold as a member of the U.S. men's volleyball team.
Former UH athletes Iefke Van Belkum and Meike De Nooy were members of the gold winning Netherlands water polo team, and Stacey Porter and Justine Smethurst were on Australia's bronze medal softball team.
Punahou alum Brandon Brooks is a member of the U.S. men's water polo team that will play in a gold medal match Sunday, ensuring him of either gold or silver.
The U.S. women's volleyball team includes UH and McKinley alum Robyn Ah Mow-Santos, Punahou and Minnesota alum Lindsey Berg and UH alums Heather Bown and Kim Willoughby.
