Minor quake rattles Big Island area near Pahala

A minor earthquake rattled portions of the Big Island early this morning.
The quake, which was assigned a preliminary magnitude of 2.7 by the United States Geological Survey, occurred at 1:53 a.m. about 2 miles north-northeast of Pahala, the USGS said.
It was centered 7.8 miles beneath the earth's service, according to the USGS.
There have been no reports of injury or damage stemming from the quake.
