An early morning fire yesterday destroyed a home that was being renovated, county officials said.

The fire, at 15-2800 Maikoiko St. in the Hawaiian Shores subdivision, was reported about 12:20 a.m. and brought under control at 1 a.m.

Fire officials said the home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at 12:32 a.m.

Police said the lone occupant was not home when the fire broke out.
