Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash last night on Kaua'i, police said.

The victims were a 32-year-old Lihu'e man who was pronounced dead at the scene and a 42-year-old Kapa'a man who died at Wilcox Hospital, according to a news release from Kaua'i police.

Their names were not released.

Police said the wife of the 32-year-old and his 6-month-old child were in critical condition and were being flown to The Queen's Medical Center for treatment last night. The Kapa'a man was alone in his vehicle.

The collision happened about 5:15 p.m. on Kuhio Highway, near the Hilton Kaua'i Beach Resort in Wailua.

Police did not release details on how the crash occurred.

The crash forced the closure of Kuhio Highway for hours as police investigated the scene.
