Three brothers were arrested yesterday in connection with a home invasion and shooting in Aliamanu earlier this month that left a 19-year-old man paralyzed.
Kevin Khamsouk 19, and his two juvenile brothers, ages 16 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery after police learned they were among a group of men who forced their way into the home of 19-year-old Timothy Lapitan on the morning of Aug. 11. Police did not release the names of the juveniles.
Police are still looking for the person who fired a shot that put a bullet in Lapitan's spine.
Lapitan subsequently underwent four surgeries and is now paralyzed.
Investigators believe the robbery took place after Lapitan allegedly stole from a group of drug dealers, police said.
The Khamsouk brothers were arrested at their home yesterday afternoon.
Lapitan and two women, ages 56 and 30, were in the home on the 1200 block of Hulaku'i Drive on Aug. 11 when five masked men forced their way into the home, police said. Some of the intruders entered the residence displaying guns.
Two of the intruders searched the residence while the victims were detained by the gunmen.
At one point, Lapitan attempted to push the men out the front door and was shot once in the abdomen, police said.
The intruders ran away after taking electronics and other items from the home.
The shooting was reported at 10:55 a.m. Lapitan was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, police said.
First-degree robbery is a class "A" felony punishable by up to 20 years prison.
