Mayor suspends press secretary for DUI arrest

Mayor Mufi Hannemann suspended press secretary Bill Brennan for five days without pay following Brennan's Aug. 22 arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a news release.
While the incident was not related to Brennan's city duties and the case remains pending, Hannemann said in the statement that he takes all issues of public safety seriously.
Brennan agreed to the suspension and said he will take full responsibility for his actions, according to the statement.
Brennan was arrested at 2:45 a.m. Aug. 22 for allegedly driving under the influence, according to police records.
Brennan, 55, was arrested at the corner of Hunakai Street and Wai'alae Avenue just a few blocks from his home on 'Aukai Avenue in Kahala, police records show.
He had a blood alcohol content above .10, police said. The legal limit is .08.
