Jones wins two gold medals at U.S. figure skating event

Honolulu's Jennifer Jones earned two gold medals and a silver at the U.S. National Showcase Figure Skating Championships in Rochester, Minn., this month.
Jones, in her fifth trip to nationals, won gold in master dramatic and master light entertainment categories. She earned the silver medal in the master extemporaneous improv event.
Jones also brought three students to the nationals. Madison Mattfield, age 13, finished in 11th place in the preliminary dramatic, preliminary light entertainment and took 10th in preliminary extemporaneous. Traci Miller, 34, finished fourth in adult dramatic and adult light entertainment and won gold in adult extemporaneous improv. Miyong Kim, 27, won bronze in adult dramatic and was fourth in adult extemporaneous.
TRAMPOLINE
VERCRUYSSEN FINISHES SECOND AT JAPAN EVENT
Honolulu's Nani Vercruyssen finished second at the Machina Trampoline Cup this month in Machida, Japan.
Vercruyssen was one of 200 athletes that participated in the event that featured athletes from China, Hong Kong and Japan.
After competing in Japan, Vercruyssen went to Beijing to take in the Olympic Games.
