Today is the deadline for youth-related nonprofit organizations in the 96797 zip code area to apply for up to $5,000 in grant money from the Waipahu Community Foundation.

The foundation, established 17 years ago, distributes up to $34,000 each quarter to needy Waipahu youth activities.

The nonprofit foundation has awarded $1.6 million since being established.
