CBKB: Iowa guard Tucker charged with public intoxication
Associated Press
IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa freshman guard Anthony Tucker has been charged with public intoxication after being found unconscious behind an Iowa City bar.
Iowa coach Todd Lickliter suspended Tucker after learning of what the coach would only call an alcohol-related incident. Tucker is the team's leading scorer with 13.1 points per game.
According to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Johnson County District Court, police found Tucker passed out in an alley behind the Union bar at 1:10 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to an Iowa City hospital, and his blood alcohol level registered at 0.19. That's more than double the legal limit to drive.
Public intoxication is a simple misdemeanor with a fine of up to $500.
