ORLANDO, Fla. Central Florida administrators are questioning the teammates of a freshman football player who collapsed during workouts last week.

Brandon Davis became dehydrated while participating in a weightlifting session and was taken to Florida Hospital East with kidney failure.

He remained hospitalized Tuesday as school officials began interviewing teammates who were present at the workout. President John Hitt said he expects the findings late this week.

UCF's athletic department has said the training was "a rigorous out-of-season workout" that was "not atypical" for a college football conditioning session.

The school's training methods have been scrutinized since a wide receiver died during a conditioning workout last spring.

Davis was in the running back rotation during UCF's 4-8 season.
