Target's hiring event at the Hawaii Convention Center was closed early this morning due to an overwhelming rush of applicants.

The company, which plans to hire 1,200 workers during the four-day job fair, advises interested job seekers to begin lining up at the Hawaii Convention Center no earlier than 4 a.m. tomorrow. The Convention Center doors and parking garage will open at 5 a.m.

Target officials said they expect to process about 1,000 applicants today. The company originally had planned to open the doors of this morning's hiring event at 9 a.m., but because so many people had lined up early, the company started turning job applicants away before 9 a.m.

Target is hiring for two Oahu stores it plans to open in March, one in Kapolei and the other in Salt Lake.
