CFB: Mississippi's Hardy, Jerry seek NFL evaluation

Associated Press

JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi juniors Greg Hardy and John Jerry have filed paperwork asking the NFL to evaluate their likely draft position.

Jerry, a 6-foot-7, 350-pound right tackle, says he's coming back for his senior season. But Hardy, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive end, has yet to decide.

Jerry's older brother, All-American defensive tackle Peria Jerry, also plays for the No. 20 Rebels and is expected to be taken early in April's draft. The younger Jerry says he filed the paperwork to get an idea how much work he has to put in to reach the upper rounds.

Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt believes Hardy can greatly improve his draft stock if he returns for his senior year. Hardy has averaged more than a sack per game the last two seasons and had 8.5 this year in eight games.
