The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the crash of a single-engine plane Friday near the Kalaeloa Airport that injured three people, an FAA spokesman said this morning.
The Piper Cherokee went down about 11:30 a.m. on the side of Coral Sea Road on the grounds of what was formerly known as Barbers Point Naval Air Station.
A woman in her 20s was piloting the plane, with a man, 59, and his wife in her 40s on board as passengers at the time of the crash. Last night, the man and the younger woman were listed in serious condition, while the older woman was reported to be in critical condition.
Updated information on their conditions was not available this morning.
The plane belonged to Offshore Flight School Inc., whose offices are at a Lagoon Drive address.
Company officials could not be reached today to comment on the matter.
