CBKB: No. 12 Notre Dame tops Delaware State, 88-50

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Luke Harangody had 20 points and eight rebounds and Ryan Ayers added 18 points, leading No. 12 Notre Dame to an 88-50 victory over Delaware State today.
Notre Dame dominated inside, outscoring the Hornets in the paint 32-10 with a 41-24 rebounding advantage. Delaware State tried to slow Notre Dame's high-scoring offense with its slow, deliberate offense, but had minimal success because the Hornets couldn't slow Harangody.
Harangody was 7-of-8 from the floor for 16 points in the first half to lead the Irish to a 39-21 halftime lead. The Irish used a 12-0 run to extend the lead to 29, then continued to pull away for most of the rest of the game.
Kyle McAlarney added 14 points for the Irish (8-2). Kris Douse and Marcus Neal led Delaware State (2-13) with 11 points each.
The Irish had several high-flying dunks in the game, including a rim-rattling two-handed slam by Harangody on a pass from McAlarney with 36 seconds left in the first half and a a one-handed slam rebound by Zach Hillesland that gave the Irish a 67-37 lead.
The Irish were in command throughout, as Delaware State missed eight straight shots during a 14-0 run and the Irish quickly jumped to a 16-2 lead. Even when the Irish missed 10 straight shots, the Hornets only managed to close to 18-8.
The Irish then used a 15-4 spurt to extend the lead to 33-12 when McAlarney hit a 3, and led 39-21 at the half. They continued to pull away for most of the second half, including using a 12-0 run to take a 57-28 lead. The Irish extended the lead to 86-47 when Nash scored inside with 1:50 left.
The Irish have won 42 straight at home. Delaware State is 0-9 on the road this season.
