Kelly awards honor surfers, Styrophobia

Surfers Shaun Tomson and Dave Rastovich and the Hawai'i-based company Styrophobia will be honored by the Surfrider Foundation O'ahu Chapter at its sixth annual John Kelly Environmental Awards, 6:30 p.m. today at the Waterfront at Aloha Tower.
Tomson, a former world champion from South Africa, will receive the organization's Lifetime Achievement Award. Now living in California, he has testified throughout Southern California about ocean conservation.
Rastovich, a sponsored "free surfer," is co-founder of the whale and dolphin protection group Surfers for Cetaceans. He is active in several other ocean environmental groups and a spokesman for Save the Whales Again.
Styrophobia provides 100 percent-biodegradeable takeout containers and cutlery.
Dinner is being catered by town restaurant. Tickets are $30, available at the door.
