Most Hawaii post offices open Christmas Eve

Advertiser Staff

All but two U.S. Postal Service offices across the state will be open for business on Christmas Eve, but 33 offices will shorten their retail lobby hours on that day. Regular mail delivery out of those offices for Christmas Eve will be unaffected by the changes.

Two small postal facilities serving Pearl Harbor Naval Air Station will be completely closed, at the request of the base commander. Those two offices do not provide delivery service.

The list of post offices with early Christmas Eve closures follows. Most of the offices will be closing at noon. Exceptions are noted in parentheses. Specific revised hours will be posted at each post office.

Airport HNL (5 p.m.)

Captain Cook and Downtown HNL (1 p.m.)

Eleele (2 p.m.)

Fort Shafter (1 p.m.)

Haiku, Hanalei, Honaunau, Honomu and Hoolehua (2 p.m.)

To obtain the phone number of a specific post office, customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS. Commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit for Christmas Eve hours of operation.

All post offices will be closed on Christmas. Regular post office hours and mail delivery will resume on Friday.
