Gov. Linda Lingle has released the names of three people nominated to serve the term of the late state Rep. Bob Nakasone of Maui. Naksone died Dec. 7 after a battle with lung cancer. He was 68.

Nakasone represented the 9th House District (Kahului, Pa'ia). He served in the House for 16 years, and before that served on the Maui County Council for six years.

The three people nominated by the Democratic Party as possible successors are Gil Keith-Agaran, Kehau Filimoe'atuu and Lance Holter.

By law, Lingle has until Feb. 5 to select Nakasone's successor from that list.
