Hanalani students raise money for library books

Students at Hanalani Schools raised $1,400 in spare coins to purchase 126 books that were donated to the Wahiawa Public Library earlier this month as part of the school's "Coins for Kids' Books" program.

Containers were placed in the Hanalani campus library over a two-week period and students were asked to deposit their extra change. The money was used to buy books, primarily children's books, from Scholastic Books, a partner in the school's fall book fair.

The project was co-organized by Hanalani reading specialist Bonnie Lee and Hanalani librarian Jill Pawlin.

Hanalani is a private, Christian school based in Mililani.
