As the new year fast approaches, is a fashion makeover on your mind? You can get a start at http://hawaiisfashionforum.honadvblogs.com.

Ask me the fashion-related question that's bugging you. Or post a photo of yourself in the outfit in question (you're welcome to cut off the head or blot out your face if you prefer anonymity) and I'll send you some ideas for making it work better.

Of course, you may have a plethora of other questions in mind, such as how to get a wine spot out of your white blouse, what colors are in for spring 2009 ... or whatever. We'll do our best to find answers for you.

Check in with our blog daily for interesting fashion tips, events and slide shows. We're your one-stop blog for fashion.

DOLCE, A SWEET BOUTIQUE, OPENS

Christie Yang has worked in retail since she was a teen. From T&C in Honolulu to Ralph Lauren in New York, she has paid her dues. Now she's fulfilling a lifelong dream by opening her own boutique, Dolce, in Ward Centre. "I wanted an East Coast feel," she said. She has brought in an eclectic collection of designers. There are eco-friendly Sea Bags from Maine, Calypso dresses by a French designer who originated the line in St. Barts, handbags from Argentina, Matt Bernson New York leather sandals, and jewelry by Morra Designs and Shirra Designs, all chosen to complement the clothing. While the vibe is East Coast/Europe, the carefully edited selections are chosen with the Island woman in mind.

WYLAND CREATES FOR CRAZY SHIRTS

Popular marine artist Wyland has partnered with Crazy Shirts to launch a new line of T-shirts featuring Wyland's art. The five new designs debuted this month and will be sold in Hawai'i and on the Mainland. Whales and dolphins in classic Wyland style are featured on the shirts.

The line supports green initiatives in the Islands such as the Wyland Foundation's clean water initiative. The Wyland designs are printed on Pima cotton T-shirts and retail for $34.

ON OUR RADAR

JEWELRY SIGNALS A 'REBIRTH'

Ke Kai Kealoha is best known for her "Pearl Tastings," at which she offers wines for tasting and talks about the similarities in choosing fine wines and pearls of French Polynesia.

Now she has created a lyrical line of jewelry called "Rebirth." She says each piece represents "The journey of becoming alive. Each individual creation represents a unique voyage and the passage for each inspiration takes on twists and turns that are different from another. Inevitably the journey in all of its chaos is as beautiful as the treasure found within. It is a journey of my soul, without losing sight of the spirit within." Indeed, it sounds like life.

Rebirth is made of sterling silver and pearls, and is sold at Le Muse and the Honolulu Academy of Arts gift shop. Prices range from $150 to $200.
