High surf in forecast for east-facing shores
The National Weather Service has extended a high surf advisory 6 p.m. today for the east-facing shores of O'ahu, Kaua'i, Maui, Moloka'i and the Big Island.
Strong trade winds are expected to generate rough and choppy surf along east-facing shores. Forecasters also advised that conditions could produce rip currents and localized beach erosion.
Swells from the north-northeast and from the northwest will build today and linger into the weekend.
A moderate west-northwest swell is expected late Tuesday.
