The state this week is routing H-1 Freeway traffic from a temporary bypass back to the main freeway, as construction of the North-South Interchange reaches another milestone.
Since June 21, 2008, freeway traffic has used a bypass road as workers built an overpass that the North-South Road will run under at its interchange with the H-1 Freeway.
Now that the overpass is nearly completed, traffic can be routed back onto the freeway.
Honolulu-bound traffic is being redirected onto the freeway from 8:30 p.m. tonight to 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Wai'anae-bound traffic will be redirected onto the freeway from 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night to 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. During that time, two westbound lanes will be closed.
The North-South Road project is creating a new six-lane road connecting Kapolei Parkway, Farrington Highway and the H-1 Freeway. The $143 million project began in 2007.
