Kids spend a lot of time at school — learning not just what's in their textbooks but also about respect, self-confidence and achievement. Here's what kids in sixth through eighth grades had to say about their schools in a 2006 multistate survey:

Check out the American Academy of Pediatrics' book, "Guide to Your Child's Allergies and Asthma" to help identify symptom patterns in your child. Some clues to watch for: Red, itchy, dry and sometimes scaly rashes in the creases of the skin, wrists and ankles; nose rubbing, sniffling, sneezing and itchy, runny eyes; itching or tingling sensations in the mouth and throat. Itchiness is not usually a complaint with a cold, but it is the hallmark of an allergy problem.
