Alan Sutterfield is Teddy Roosevelt, Lee Stetson is John Muir, right, in "The Tramp and the Roughrider," written and produced by Sutterfield, about the historic 1903 encounter between the very different men who shared a love of the wilderness. Sutterfield has been an actor and playwright in Hawai'i and the Mainland; Stetson was among the founders of the Hawaii Performing Arts Company, now the Manoa Valley Theatre.

A barbershop quartet, a rose and thee. Once again the nonprofit Sounds of Aloha Chorus offers a sweet treat for your beloved (male or female) to celebrate the most romantic time of all. For a fee, a quartet will present a card, a silk rose and sing two songs at the time and place you specify. This year you can also book online.

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Kenny Rankin brings his gentle pop to a Valentine's Day concert. Among his career notables: He played guitar on Bob Dylan's 1965 album "Bringing It All Back Home"; and he appeared on Johnny Carson's "Tonight" show more than 20 times. Also, his version of The Beatles' "Blackbird" was a hit with listeners and the Fab Four.

The Hawaiian Telcom Great Aloha Run dominates the Presidents Day weekend with an expo, keiki run and circus party and the run itself. Details:

  • The Sports, Health & Fitness Expo is a family-friendly event featuring six zones — sports, keiki fun, healthy foods and wellness, high tech, pets and people, and financial — of activities. Hours: 4-9 p.m. Feb. 15, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Feb. 16, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. It's free, sponsored by The Honolulu Advertiser.

  • Silverstreaks Sunrise Walk, 7:30 a.m. Feb. 16, Ala Moana Beach Park. For those 55 and older. Numbers will be distributed at 6:45 a.m., warm-up at 7:15 a.m.; meet at McCoy Pavilion. Entry fee: $20.

  • Kraft Hawaii Keiki Run & Circus Party, from 8 a.m. Feb. 16. Includes a run around McKinley High School and the Blaisdell Center and a post-run party. Fee: $18 children, $6 adults.

  • Hawaiian Telcom Great Aloha Run, below — 8.15 miles from Downtown to Aloha Stadium — begins at sunrise Feb. 18. It's a fundraiser for local charitable organizations. Entry fee: $40 until Feb. 2, $45 at the expo. More info: www.greataloharun.com.

    Men in tights? Of course! It's Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, the all-male company that spoofs classical ballet in a delightfully comic way. On the program: "Swan Lake," "Vivaldi Suite" and pas de deux or solo pieces to be announced. Les Ballets Trockadero is presented by Ballet Hawaii.

    Happy birthday, Bill "Tappy" Tapia! The legendary 'ukulele master, above, just turned 100, and he's still celebrating. He'll perform with vocalist Mihana and Jeff Peterson on guitar and Ernie Provencher on bass; other guests will be announced. Mike Buck does the emcee duties.

    Cars, cars and more cars — and trucks, too, of course — will be shined up and ready for the 2008 First Hawaiian International Auto Show, right, a favorite for fans of all that is new and trendy on four wheels. The last time the band was here was at the inaugural Diamond Head Crater Celebration in 2006. A portion of the proceeds will go to crater celebration promoter Ron Gibson's nonprofit Diamond Head International Music Festival and Conference.
